The paper is just as important as the words written upon it. There is excitement in opening up a mailbox and finding an envelope shaped differently from all of its companions, its contents brimming with joy, love, and expectation. I create custom paper products on my Chandler & Price platen press. I create them so you can create words that will last.

Tradition

There is beauty in the old, labor by hand, well worn tools, and creation of vibrant color. There is strength in the past, a foundation to build upon, learn from, and make better. Following Guttenbergʼs legacy the art of printing has been refined, typography evolved, and tools modernized. But, the essence of form remains consistent.

It is this respect for form and tradition, passed down through generations of printers, including my great grandfather, that I carry on today.

Connection

Correspondence should be felt, touched,and pinned to a bulletin board to be revisited in a quiet moment. A card has the ability to elicit emotion, tears, laughter, grateful thanks, the feeling of being cared for and knowing that someone took the time to pick up pen and paper and give physical form to their sentiments for me to hold.

Handwritten correspondence is for the dear ones in my life. When opening my mailbox I hope that someone has found me dear.

Craftsmanship

I touch every piece of paper. Thick paper. American made, sourced from mills in Massachusetts and Michigan. Printed on one ton of Cleveland, Ohio built cast iron, filled with the energy of a centuryʼs use, just covered in dust and waiting in a Napa barn for me to find and give it life again.

Tailored impression unique to each print run. Fancy inked edges and the implementation of good design.
